That code was likely the fuel pump control module, but it's a good thing you sorted it out. While at it, I'd also replace the fuel filter. Go for UFI 6.6bar as it's an OEM manufacturer for half the price. Legit got an OEM filter and it came with the exact same text and markings as the UFI filter, except it had a VW part number and logo on it for 3x the price..

I mean the vacuum pump seals - seems to have done the trick for me. nbsp I think it is a pretty sensitive engine with regards vacuum etc.

I actually tried to check and replace the 3 plastic o'#039rings on the VVT housing myself on the weekend because I have an ongoing slight idle misfire. nbsp I also needed to replace the cam cover gasket too - Annoyingly I didn'#039t get the whole

If you ever have to do this again you can access the lower T25 screw by pulling out the headlight washer. There’s a hole that allows direct access to it, add a long extension to your T25 and your able to get directly too it, can take the headlight out in a few mins, just don’t drop the screw :(

Parasitic battery drain
Last Poster: hcmzah in Mk5 General Area on March 22, 2025, 05:12:34 pm
Hi all,

Struggling with this battery drain I have. Car is drawing 150mA when off. If I pull out F48/SB48 from the engine bay it drops to around 20mA.
The fuse is for the Vehicle electrical system control module (j519). It seems like this controls a lot of things.

I'#039ve done a scan with VCDS and I do have a code for the passenger rear door control module -

Re: DMF Friction control plate
Last Poster: rxpx69 in How to Guides / Troubleshooting on March 21, 2025, 11:52:19 pm
The stock MK5 GTI clutch setup includes a DMF (dual-mass flywheel), which naturally helps with vibration dampening. The control plate (or damper plate) is typically the standard setup.

If your timing belt & chain are both in time it sounds like a worn phaser to me  :sad1:

Good thread. Can I ask what the spec is for the wing mirror switch and window switch replacements - ie, what Mk golf are they from? I'#039ve done the same as you with the headlight switch and upgraded it to a newer version with the chrome on.
I'#039m not sure what Mk golf they came f

Here is what mine was with a slight chain rattle before I replaced a worn cam phasers, chain and seals at 120K miles

The phase position should be 0 to -/+3 max and there should not be more than -/+0.5 on the adjustment intake B1 for healthy timing (when engine is hot)

Re: Mk5 Creek.. Thought it was the subframe.. maybe it's not?
Last Poster: marcp8v in Mk5 General Area on March 19, 2025, 04:42:59 pm
Well I found the problem, and learnt a lesson at the same time.

It was the two drivers side 16mm rear control arm bush bolts that were both at least half a turn loose. Ended up buying new bolts for both sides and fitting them, and it'#039s been silent since.

Lesson there was don'#039t trust other people'#039s work, and when a car is new to me, just check all bolts in
