AirCon Compressor replacement in Wolves / B'ham area
« on: March 07, 2016, 01:30:10 pm »
My aircon compressor has given up the ghost and needs swapping out. Compressor shutoff code is 0 via VCDS. The system appears to be holding pressure and the HVAC isn't throwing up other error codes.

Does anyone have any recommendations for AirCon specialists in the Wolverhampton / Birmingham area to source + fit a new compressor, flush out the system and fit a new drier / reciever as well? Had a price from my usual VW indy but it's a bit steep and I'd like to source some alternative quotes from AirCon specialists which may turn out to be cheaper.

Cheers

Thought I'd post a quick update on this for closure.

Brand new OEM-spec compressor (not a re-manufactured or a pattern part) now installed by AC Medic for less than 50% of what my local indy garage quoted me. The work only took him 10 minutes to confirm my system held pressure and that the compressor was faulty, and then another 2 hours a few days later to swap out the bad part. I now have cold air ready for the summer - let's hope it's a hot one! :)

Mark's a great chap to have a chat with, and will give you his honest opinion on any AC work you may need. Would happily recommend his services to others in the BHM area.

Hope this helps any others who are putting off any AC work on their cars. Now would be a good time to get any problems sorted before the summer work on the AC trade begins to ramp up.

I told you he's a cool guy. had my car's and my brother porsche condensers replaced by him as I didn't want to mess with the porsche even though I could have sone it.
Mark will tell you how it is and not mess you around unlike other people.

yeah, thanks for the tip r5gtt - now got my AC working after 2 years so really happy with that.

white91 - I don't think I can PM yet (not enough posts) but I've configured my profile here to accept emails so drop me a line that way. Happy to respond back.
