FYI, appreciate that some of you may be on the hunt for the elusive CW ed30. I visited the car with a view to negotiating a change, I decided against here are my comments/ thoughts, hope it helps someone understand the general condition of the car.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201027363056690/sort/locasc/usedcars/model/golf/make/volkswagen/keywords/edition%2030/page/1/postcode/g643ba/radius/1500?logcode=pThese are my first impresions, despite the fact that the car needs a good valet, there are significant wear and tear signs on the car that makes it "look" a higher mileage car. PLEASE NOTE I am not saying that it IS clocked or anything like that, I am suggesting that the previous owner (from what i could ascertain, a woman) didn't take too much care over the car. Door grabs, gearstick and even the centre piece of the steering wheel are showing significant ring/ or key rash.
The two keys are present however they look like they have been dragged outside the car, for a 2008 car I just didnt get the right impression.
Rear bumper has a very light scuff that has been crudely touched with a touch up stick and there are a couple of stone chips on the bonnet...Nothing however that anyone would consider major , the pescaras all have scrapes on them and would (for anyone on here) need a refurb.
All documentation was clear and it is a 1 owner car with 24,000 miles on, it was serviced at 10k and 19k.
I did notice that it had an ipod connection in the arm rest where I have the 6 cd player and that the cup holders in the armrest (facing rear) was broken, looks like its been kicked so doubt warranty would cover its replacement. Also, the wing mirrors are not folding AND the adjustment switch was broken on the drivers armrest.
The engine bay looked fine and all original, just dusty, oil cap clean and cosmetically all looked in order at least.
As I said at the top, I visited the car with a view to negotiating a change however after looking round the car I walked away realising that IF I do change over it cannot be to a poverty spec ed30, it will need some toys.
Compared to mine....
1. no sat nav
2. no cruise
3. no xenons
4. no winter pack
5. no lux pack
6. no mfd2 (ok, its not great but its better than the rcd300).
7. no parking sensors
8. no milly
9. No leather (and heat, I think)
10. More importantly NO DSG, though some of you may think that a bonus ...I don't.
On the Upside, it is an ed30
and it had MFSW and Highline.
So I drove away happy with what I had (for now) as the costs to change were to great compared and what I would get would, whilst not exactly a downgrade would not exactly be considered a reasonable enough UPGRADE.
So, that's it,....I hope this helps someone out there who may be considering a long trip to Glasgow to view it.....
I think the car needs a good home and some general TLC, nothing I have mentioned on the cosmetic issues cant be easily fixed really (I think).
Any further questions etc I'd be happy to answer where I can.
