auto dipping mirrors?
« on: September 22, 2010, 10:41:19 am »
hi all,

after playing around the other day i found i have auto dipping mirrors when in put the car in reverse, it only seems to work on the near side wing mirror though, and then only if the mirror adjust knob on the driver door is in the "L" position.......is this normal?

also i thought if i had auto dipping mirrors then i would also have auto folding mirrors as they were part of the same "pack" from vw, but cant see a button for that anywhere?!

mucho gusto

Auto dipping mirrors should be part of the luxury pack, the other feature is folding mirrors.

On the control knob, how many positions are there? There should one in I think the 10 o'clock position for folding.

folding would have a forth position to the left of heated, so guess its a no!  at least you have the parking mirror thats a good thing to save the alloys from a kerbing!

Is your car an older one eg 05-plate? I wonder whether it was standard fitment and then later changed to be part of the lux pack. Otherwise possible retrofit.

I have an 05 and have tried to get this to work without success, although mine must be on the cross over as I have a roof aerial.  Best person I can think to clarify would be RR as his was definately an 05 with all the expensive options (and he should know which options he ordered)

The Folding mirrors are really poor in the MK5, they reduce the car's width profile about 10mm each side!

no its a 56 plate 07. when i bought the car they werent listed and i highly doubt it was retrofit as car was completely standard (not anymore ) and bought off a middle aged woman

im gonna put this one down as a brucie bonus!

For some of us, that'd mean no mirror scrapes against garage walls.
