Oil engine stop light on (Check which oil u are using!)
« on: February 21, 2011, 10:42:34 pm »
Hi guys... Just looking for someone which maybe had the same problem that I have and am posting these that u can avoid the same problem...

I done all my oil changes at official VW workshop and few days ago I stuck in France (aprox 500miles away from home) with RED OIL light on with STOP sign... The problem exist only when I REW it ower 4-5k RPM and I am driving uphill. Looks like that couse of bad oil in the past was put in the engine at official dealer. Crankcase was full with old oil (it's roast to the engine cover as well...) and pressure went down couse of that so Light went on and on... Then in the other service cleaned the crankcase and I drove again arr 300miles and the same problem again... now they told me that is possible that these old oil which is roasted stayed on the engine cover and is need to be open and cleaned. The cost to do that is not so small...

I was using Castrol SLX and now when I changed to ARAL longlife these happened. Looks like the old one wasn't ok for these type of engine and my style of driving...

The car is 05 GTI DSG 135.000km  :happy2:

Anyone had the same problem maybe?

Which OIL do you use?

Castrol Longlife III - best oil for these engines.

VCDS Scanning/Coding, RNS and MDI retrofits, and specialist mechanics services with VAGtek available - Just PM me for details.

Castrol SLX long life 3 is fine - I buy it from VW.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
