HID Kits will be legal after all

• Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps may be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp self levelling system.
• Where such systems are fitted, they must work; however, it is accepted that it may not be possible to readily determine the functioning of self levelling systems. In such cases, the benefit of the doubt must be given.
• Headlamp washers may work in conjunction with the windscreen washers (when the dipped beam headlamps are switched on) or by a separate switch.

So in essence were the current MOT regs state that you MUST have Washers and Self levelling suspension. Now they just say that if they are fitted they must work.

Very interesting Carl, although the wording doesn't say as much I think it is still referring to factory fit equipment.  However, with the wording as it is, having an aftermarket HID kit fitted will be an easy argument to win.  FTW!

Fitted in a reflector headlight maybe, but fitted in a vehicle equipped with projector lamps and correctly aligned I would defy anyone to tell the difference.

I think all cars with factory fitted ones have to have the Suspension/washers etc as it's part of the C&U regs. But as you say they will make the argument easier to win.
