Aye, I see what you're saying.

Used it a few times today and it popped all the way every time.

Even when it just pops a bit it's still handier than before.

I would recommend to fill the socket on the struts with grease

One other thing I had with mine was the new stops were rubbing on the little black pads causing a squeeking as I was driving. Got the vaseline out earlier and smeared some on the pads and its disappeared  :happy2:

Found my old thread as I had a failing strut after only 16 months with not that much use.
The strut has been rattling when driving and hardly working when popped, even when not that cold.

Anyway, before I bin the mod I got two new (pattern) struts off ebay for £15.50 delivered, just put them on and it worked first time, even withoiut me 'pumping' the tailgate and my car is also on a decline with the temp about 2-3C here today.

They are marked 600N, but I'll see how long they are usable for. Being brand new I'd expect them to pop every time anyway.

mine is doing this and driving me nuts only just worked out it was this so not fixed it yet

i spoke to an engineer friend and in his opinion white lithium grease was not the best lube to use due to it being quite thick in lower temps, so suggested liquid silicone or the spray grease in the can which is very thin also.

personally, i do agree with those who have the RVC fitted that this mod is going to work sporadically at best.

Had it done for months but the coding never worked so was an absolutely pointless mod for me  :sad1:

Heard the coding might be different on 05 plates but never found anything concrete on it.  Boooooo!

I wouldn't and didn't use white lithium grease for this

I had this on my golf with RVC and no problem with it opening, in my opinion if it doesn't work properly it is not installed correctly

Working again for the first time in about 6 months, even parked facing downhill, opens every time

Time will tell to see if it's the 'new' factor or whether they're a more reliable strut.

I removed my hatchpops (skoda struts, Leon ballpins and scirocco bumpers) last winter because it wouldn't open with the cold weather. Then I lost the two scirocco bumpers, so bought two new ones and decided to reinstall everything again last week.
Sadly it doesn't open anymore. Only when I manually opened and closed the hatch (pumping the struts).
But not when I didn't use the hatch for some hours...
How comes? I've tried the scirocco bumpers flat and with one click out.
Temperature is around 50 Fahrenheit in the Netherlands.
How/what can I adjust?

It's a summer weather mod mate... it's well documented that the Boot pop mod is only good when the weather is warmer - I ditched mine.
