Bikerz - Golf Mk5 GT TDI
« on: December 16, 2011, 07:43:43 pm »
Hi all.

I brought her in October 2011, 56 plater with 56k on the clock.

The modifications are:

R32 OEM Headlights
R32 OEM 18x8" Wheels in 225/40/18
R32 Mirrors
R32 Front Bumper
R32 Rear Bumper
R32 Spoiler
R32 Skirts
Custom Exhaust (poor) - Will be sorted at xmas
Tinted Rear Windows

Pics as she stands the day I got her

1st November 2011 I decided to take some care of her. She got a oil and filter change along with a cambelt kit including water pump from my friends at TRD (www.turnerracingdevelopments), cant recommend them enough!

I am currently changing the crap ballasts that the previous owner put on the car to OEM ones.
Here is the current state of the wiring:

I have booked her into my local body shop on the 18th for a complete respray and some fettling, the following week me and my mate will wrap the top half in carbon.

2 full days in a body shop oven, bit toasty!
Probably 20 hours of work of 2 people.

Hi, there some works gone into that wrap, i have done a few bits myself only small, i want to do my front grill but really struggling. How do you manage to do a larger area without bits of dust or it sticking to itself.

Any advice would be great????

Clean car dont wax of polish or anything, just a blank clean.
Put in body shop oven heat to approx 30C and de-grease the panels with degreaser or your mrs best window cleaner  :happy2:
It was in abody shop oven with extractors on so no dust in there as they spray the cars in there, Im lucky enough to have  some great mates!
Its deffinatley a 2 man job, and 3 at times would have been useful.
Mirrors are going to be re done as they arnt great (or might buy some  real carbon ones)

Looks nice. Just one question. How easy is it to change your rear bumper. I have same car the GT TDI. And want to go for the same look as you at the back. Thanks
