I was going to as there was a r32 rear bumper the same colour as my gti but chose against it. I think with a colour coded rear valance the gti's look as good.

it's not that i don't think it looks good, but i think the R32 has it's own style which includes the rear exhaust layout so imho i wouldn't go for it

maybe something like RedRobin's rear? it still uses the R32 rear bumper/valance but is something a bit more like the Mk6 GTI exhaust layout (but with 4 tips )

What I like about the R32 rear design is that it visually picks up on the side valances:

The R32 bumper also has exhaust pipe cut-outs which allow for various configurations including the OEM GTI twin tips:

Sorry but I dont get making a GTI look like an R32 at the rear - it's not an R32.

stick with GTI rear - as VW intended.

IMO the R32 rear looks brilliant. Which is why I was thinking of having it on my GTI but just can't justify the cost right now.

I also really like RR's rear end  :happy2:

R32 rear end looks miles better than the standard gti rear.its the best thing that I like about my motor and glad it was already done when I purchased it. standard gti rear just looks plain, dull and sh*te to me now and would never change it back.

Why'd you not buy an R32 then instead of trying to make the model look like something it's not?

Nice of you to slag off GTI rear bumpers on this Forum though - what's the name of it again...?

The R32 is a totally different car and a lot more expensive to run. Personally I would not be adding the R32 rear end for the purpose of making my car look like something it’s not, as it will still have the GTI badge. I just prefer the look of the rear end.

In my case it's not a matter of trying to make my GTI look like a R32 (I also would have removed my GTI bootlid badge if that was the case). Having a custom Milltek quad exhaust I had the need to change the exhaust trim anyway and, with my professional designer's hat on, I felt the styling of the OEM VW R32 rear better matched the GTI's side valances (as previously stated and illustrated with a pic). Furthermore, I do not have the characteristic central exhaust pipes of the real Mk5 R32.

.... :scared: Now you are beginning to worry me! I know that some American girlies are named Robin but it's usually spelt 'Robyn' and I'm definitely a guy.

I bought a gti cause I wanted a 2 litre turbo rather than 3.2 engine but as far as looks go I ain't ashamed to admit that the r32 is a lot better looking than golf gti .each to there own tho I suppose.

the whole point of modifying cars is that we take a car built for the masses and modify it to our own tastes. if we all had the same tastes it would  be a fairly boring art
