Hi - new member, potential GTI this year
« on: July 05, 2012, 10:27:04 pm »
Hi,

Bit of background, I currently own the old shape EP3 civic type r running approx 235bhpp... had it for 4 years, but has come to a time where I want a bit of turbo in my lfe..... and where better to start than a VW Golf GTI Mark 5.

I will be doing a lot of reading, and even seeing what comes up in the classified.

I am a car enthuaist, modding my EP3, changing everything from exhaust manifolds to stiffer anti roll bars. The EP3 is a very fun car to drive, but am now looking for something more refined. :drinking:

What's your day job if you don't mind me asking?

My EP3 has all the usual mods that CTR owners do:

Exhaust Manifold (mine retained a sports cat), catback, induction, intake manifold with teh Hondata K100.

also has the famous gemotery done to it...

Wonder if any members on here are open to a swap with a gti...

Looks like good spec and a nice car   I wouldnt want to advise you on the price / value as I dont really follow the market.

Had cambelt which I would have expected by 50k, which is good

The common factory part revisions to ask about are; Latest Revision coilpacks (Revision F), Diverter valver (the concencus is Revision G is the better version to have)

Nice

Nice colour & spec.  How does the ITG sound on the TypeR   Its a very popular when tuning TFSIs too.

Arent there any decent turbo conversions for the Civic?

The ITG is a very subtle induction kit, just a deeper noise. There are others for the type r, most noticably the Gruppe M, which makes the loudest and some say best induction noise.

When people add a turbo/supercharger on these, normally get over 300bhp.
