Removing the Charcoal Canister (Part of the EVAP)

Has anyone removed the charcoal canister on their Golf or any other 2.0TFSI?

Was having a mooch today and it gets in the way of my catch can proper bad, I thought it would be sweet if I wasn't there! I've just had a quick look on the net and can't find anything about it, as far as I can see its just a breather for the fuel tank? With a couple of pipes going to it, looks like it would be fairly easy to blank? I could get it mapped out too so no lights on the dash...

So yeah, has anyone done it?

Vrs Alex of AKS tuning has removed it from his vRS Octavia

Did mine the other day as Mike says.  Fitted a much bigger catch can in its place.  Will throw up an N80 flow fault after a while.  Can be mapped out.  Niki rtech can do that on one of his maps.  Chatting to Revo about doing it to my map at the min too but they won't release one to the public I don't expect.

The guy who has mapped my car has said in the past he can map it out easy enough. How hard was it to remove? The top breather pipe obv just unclips off at both ends, what about the pipe that goes across the engine?

May be a silly question but is your oil catch can fitted on the same side as your charcoal canister.
I have fitted mine on the passenger side (nearside) as my canister is located on the drivers side (offside).
Could you not just do this?

Run a hose from the breather pipe that comes from the tank down to the bottom of the arch.  This vents the smells out the way.   Blank the feed to the inlet.

I'm going to take my inlet off and fully remove the N80 valve and pipework when I get a chance.
