DIY intake Valve Blow-By Cleaning Vid

Finally finished my routine valve cleaning method vid;

Also, I am aware this in no way does a thorough complete cleaning of all carbon build-up.

But I do this every 10k miles and yet have not had random misfires at/up to 92k miles.

It will clean the intake valves and seems to slow down future build-up. I do want to get a lighted micro-scope cam to take a look in the future at the before and after. I hope it is not too long before I do that so hang on. First I will try finding somebody that has one for borrow...

I'd be surprised if this method shifted the build up but I'd love to be proved wrong. Post up some before and after pics if you get the camera

Yes, and BG44K has one out there somewhere. Their product is mostly mineral spirits. I would love seeing if my difference matched their filmed results. If nothing else, to just see if and what the difference is for myself. Whatever I'm doing is working so far at keeping the misfires at bay.

Thanks. It is something easy enough to give it a go on some sort of scheduled mileage increment to help with that build-up. Most of the intake valve cleaners out there are some % solvent, some % oil, and even a small % alcohol in a few. 100% mineral spirits or kerosene should be 100% solvent strength of bg44k and seafoam respectively.

Is there a danger that you can hydrolock the engine doing this?

You would need to inject alot of water to hydrolock an engine.
Ive done this to quite a few previous cars, steam cleans the cylinders and the water turns to steam.
When running water injection you get a similar effect

I highly doubt it. Mineral spirits is a solvent and does not dry fast/cool fast.

Here are today's valve pics. Impressive the amount of carbon removal this does.
The valve stems look nearly free of carbon, and the valve stem guides show their bronze again.
