Mk6 reverse camera issue
« on: January 07, 2013, 10:56:27 am »
Have an intermittent problem with the boot badge.

I'd say 1 out of every 5 times the boot badge doesn't close properly.

The camera closes and pulls in ok but the mechanism doesn't close and is left a jar.

Anyone else had this issue and know of a fix?

I bought it off DonalM, he got it from SteveP a few months back.

I did the fitting, using Steve's how to.

Worked perfect for the first couple of months, now is sticking open  :sad1:

You come across this before?

Funny enough I saw a passat today in the car park with the same issue, badge a jar, wondering if this common enough problem?

take the unit apart and test just the mechanism over and over, make sure its all greased up and make sure nothing is broken or damaged

this isn't a how to but there are some pics on here that may help you

Thanks for that SI-R32, what grease would you recommend using?

Could it of been an issue with the current minus temperatures - ice - and locks don't mix to well!

No ice here in the very south of Ireland  :jumpmove:, barely dropped below 7 degrees for more than a couple of days.

Got a feeling it was the piggyback fuse holder, it was fully pushed in but gave it a little wiggle for good measure and hey ho
