Hi guys, so as I
mentioned in the newbie forum, I am the proud owner of my first MkV Golf, replacing a Corrado VR6 and MkIV Golf 1.6, and I have to say, I'm impressed.
Specifically, I bought a beautiful 56-plate Golf GT TDI 170 DSG in Blue Graphite at the back end of last year and though it is essentially a standard car, it has a great feature set and is near immaculate inside and out.
Here are the details:
MkV Golf GT TDI 170 DSG
58,000 (now 62,000) miles, one previous owner, FSH with main dealer & 12 month VW warranty.
Blue graphite pearl effect paint (LC5F) with black cloth interior, leather steering wheel & gearknob.
Highline MFD, climatronic dual zone air-con, cruise control, rain sensor, coming home lights, auto-dimming rear view mirror.
17" Ronal ClassiX wheels (naturally).
It cost me £7,500 from White Rose VW near Keighly, I'm happy at that price given how well looked after it is, the warranty etc. and the price of other cars at VW even now.
Obviously it is a big change from the Corrado but I'm actually surprised at how much better than our MkIV it feels too, I certainly underestimated the step between them.
The short rev range of the diesel was odd at first but the amount of torque available all over the place is just daft and it's much easier to utilise than the VR6.
My initial thoughts on modifications are the dark headlamps and possibly black grille surround as per the '08 GT Sport, R-line fog lamp grilles, GTi side skirts and maybe R32 tail lights but I'd love to hear your ideas.
Anyway, I finally got around to taking some proper pictures of it so here they are, enjoy!
And this is my favourite image I've ever taken of a car:
Cheers,
Mik
