Received new front grill today. thanks to @LiamGTi
Had my second attempt at the magnetic number plate. This time i wrapped the back with vinyl stuck the magnets with super strong trim tape then covered magnets with a bit of vinyl.
Not happy with the foam will try a long piece of draft excluder if i can find some.

TBH think aluminium would have been better.

My old grill has been religated to the spares shelf. I've not given up on it going to smooth it more and try painting it this time the wrap i put on is lifting here and there.

Finally received all the bits for the audio upgrade. Still not sure on what to do in the boot. Would really like to ditch the crappy ebay side mount sub box. Any suggestions pics would be great. I also have the mono block amp which is currently under the drivers seat.

Think i will have to go stage 2+ due to the extra weight of all this sh*t.

Made a start on the boot build today.
Happy with my first attempt with a router and jigsaw.
Not happy with the cost of all the work working tools i doubt they will get used again.

Could only find 16mm MDF which was way to heavy went for 15mm ply.

Everything i have done is thanks to info available on this forum and others like it.  :notworthy:

I searched for a decent mechanic when i got this car but couldn't find one. My questions were returned with sarcasm at most garages. Or lost in translation. WTF is Diverter Valve in spanish??

So i got stuck in.

Start small Oil change, air filter, fuel filter and obviously the cam follower.
Take your time, if/when you f*ck something up don't worry plenty of help on here.

I actually feel bad because i paid a mechanic to change the ball joint on my beater the other day. Knowing good and well i could have done it myself and saved a few quid. But i refuse to park the golf on the street.

I have problems

Put the boot build on hold awaiting more tools. Do not do any woodwork if you have OCD.

Onto deadening the doors.

Inner and outer skin are off.

Should i deaden the whole outer skin? @xjay1337

so the outer skin is well and truly deadened now.

On to the inner skin. Surely i don't need to cover it all the doors will fall off. Options please

I'd be very interested to know how much of a difference sound dampening the doors makes to the driving environment in the car. Got to upgrade my front speaks and other bits which will involved pulling the doors apart so may do this myself.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

I think the audiophiles use thicker deadener than this maybe the 4mm silent coat and a couple of layers of other softer material which i have no idea about.

We will see.

So much for plug and play this is turning into a mammoth project.
Still have to deaden the inner skin. Find somewhere to fit the crossover and get a wire through the door.
