Running Speaker Cable Through Door
« on: January 23, 2015, 06:32:14 pm »
Hope this helps someone out. Took a few pics while installing my new speakers.

If i've done anything wrong or missed something please let me know.

What you will need.
  • Trim Removal Tool.
  • Dremel
  • Small Drill Bit
  • Wire Snake/Coat Hanger

Unclip rubber grommet using trim tool. Pry from the top.

Pull down orange leaver this will release the outer connector.

Squeeze the two clips together this will pop out the inner connector.

At the bottom of the block you will see a number of unused pin holes. With your dremel and a small drill bit. You need to drill out two pins.

Have the dremel on low speed.
Drill the two holes out first then drill out the piece in between them.

Single Image

Clip in the inner connector and feed the wire through.

Make a small slit on the door side of the grommet and feed through the wire snake.
Tape wire to snake and pull through.

The orange clip should close easily. If there is any resistance please remove and reseat.

A little question... If you going to install a three-way speaker set up with all driven by it's own amp? Then I need 3 cables in, are there room for that many?

    An active system
With some careful work with the dremel you can get it done these pins next to the ones i drilled out are also free.

Good to know you can get three sets of speaker cables through for a full active door speaker set, what size cables did you use?
