New GTI owner alert!
« on: October 27, 2016, 10:47:26 am »
Hi peeps, new to the forum, just picked up my 56 plate GTi DSG a few days ago... loving it so far, just thought I would say hi!

She needs a few cosmetic bits done to tidy her up but to begin with I am looking to get her serviced and make sure she is running sweet as a nut for my own piece of mind first.

So this leads me onto asking if anyone can tell me where in the Kent area is the best place for servicing, using OEM parts etc... I searched a previous post from 2014 which mentions VGSuk in Biggin Hill, but as that post is 2 years old I just wanted to see if there is anyone else or if these are the guys that are to the go to people still!?

Just hit 62K and has had the usual cambelt and water pump replacement already done, but think she could well do with some new suspension rubbers and mounts etc.

Saying that I have pulled the drivers seat forward (3door) and I now have an airbag light on in the dash - I understand this is a common annoying issue, how do I fix that, I know a garage with VAGCOM can get rid of the light but I dont want to have to do that everytime somebody sits in the back ?

Also, the wheels are trashed, 18" polished monzas - I live near Lepsons alloy refurbishers who I know do a great job (have used them in the past - all be it a good few years back) but they want nearly £500 for all 4, is there anybody else in my area that could help - would be great to know of anybody else?

Any advice would be much appreciated and look forward to chatting with you all soon.

Cheers!  :drinking:

Paul

I had the airbag light issue with an '06' plate one at 6 months old. I took it back into the dealership 13 times in total to get this fixed....I was not a happy bunny, as they are 35 miles away!!

In the end, then cut off the connectors under the seat and soldered the wires together...problem solved!
