Audio Install Help
« on: June 04, 2015, 06:03:09 pm »
Evening everyone.
So i have purchased myself a new double din headunit for my mk5 gti along with the mb quart component package to replace the 6 front speakers and also a slim line kenwood amp x 400 series i think it is.
Thats about as far as it goes for me though as i am clue less with anything audio related so basically looking if someone knows a good audio installer or someone that can do it themselves for me.
Im in rugeley Staffordshire.
All the main audio places like car audio centre want like 350 quid or more to do the work, im happy to pay but that just seems a bit steep.
Basically i just want headunit fitted, amp installed somewhere out of site and power from 6 speakers via the amp and stock back 4 speakers through the headunit.
May need other bits like cable for amp wiring etc i dont know? I have all correct adapter for headunit etc and speakers fit straight in as they have mounting brackets is as much as i know. Anyones help is much appreciated. Cheers Daz

It's easy enough to do your self.. for the amp you will need an amp wiring kit, available from Halfords, autocraze, motorworld, ebay etc. (go in and ask them they will tell you what you need) run the main power cable from the battery through the car to the amp, the earth can go to a connector behind the carpet in the boot near the rear light and you can connect the remote to the 12v socket in the boot, using crimps or something similar. Run the rca cables from the amp through to the audio out socket on the radio, you'll have to take it out to feed them up the back whilst its out you can plug in your new radio. Then just run the individual speaker cables to each speaker which you can hide behind the trim and feed through the same hole in the door that all the door wiring goes through, pull door cards off take out old speakers and connect up the new ones using your new wires.
And viola a few hours a lot of swear words and a mate pissing himself while he watches later and your all done  :notworthy:

If you weren't so far away I'd offer to help you out for a hell of a lot less that £350, but good luck  :happy2:
