Re: Cylinder 3 misfire
Last Poster: TyGTI in How to Guides / Troubleshooting on Yesterday at 12:09:54 pm
Oil on top of the pistons could be leaking valve stem oil seals.

When the engine is shut-off the oil in the head can leak down the valve stems and would sit on the pistons of the cylinders where the valves are open

That would produce some smoke on start up but burn off quickly. I doubt it was cause your intermittent miss fire though.

I think I'd be looking at taking it to a VAG specialist, hopefully they can help.

Never used a smoke tester myself but I would check you vac booster pipe that goes from vac pump on the end of the head to the servo, they're plastic and can snap.

I bought these off Lockwood they're also on eBay for my import. If you look after 50 mph the increments change. So for some reason on import cars the Speedo doesn't go up in a linear fashion.

Re: Cam chain replacement

My bolt rounded too  :sad1:

The other way to deal with this is time up the engine, remove the cambelt and then loosen the cam carrier so the camshaft can be moved. This'll release the chain.

Replaced mine about a week ago now. nbsp

Drivers wheel liner needs to be removed and the car on jacks. nbsp Access is tight but possible......I had to remove the entire IC pipe from the turbo to improve that access further.

The hardest part was getting the original one time use hos

Sorry for resurrecting an old post but I have been chasing the P0087 code for a while now and pulled the HPFP and measured the lobes vs the base circle and am getting a lift of 4.6, 4.6 and 4.8 that is wore but not nearly what I have seen in other posts here. Does anyone know the wear tolerance? I have changed the bucket every 15k since I purchased the car (68k miles) and the origi

Edition 30 Rear Valance -Pearl Black (Genuine Part)
£80.00
Location: Manchester
Collection Only

For Sale is my old Pearl Black Edition 30 rear valance. This clips into the upper section of your rear bumper.
This was removed from my golf due someone backing into me at low speed causing surface cracks. (they offered to pay for a new valance)

The surface cracks are around the the number plate area which I've tried to photo the best i can.

The exhaust surround has been bonded back on by the body shop after an encounter with a high kerb a few years ago.

There are storage scratches on the paintwork so will need respraying. You will also need a towing eye cover.

All clips to clip the valance upper bumper section are intact and there is no sign of warping.

This is a genuine valance and was fitted to my ED30 from the factory.
