I'm planning on getting my 1.4 TSI Twincharger mapped this year and Ideally would like to book it in ASAP however I'm at a loss as to which company to go for?

I've heard amazing reviews regarding R-Tech and usually that would be my go to tuner. It does however seem that R-Tech don't work on the on the MK5 TSI 140, unless there is a typing error on their information sheets (http://www.r-techpower.co.uk/r-tech-vw-remap.htm) ? I have contacted them regarding this and I am awaiting a reply as preferably R-Tech is the place I would choose but just in case are their other companies that would be recommended?

The ones I have in mind for a backup are;

  • REVO Stage 1 185bhp
  • Shark - 180bhp
  • APR - 180bhp
  • Superchips 180bhp

It seems as if they all offer a similiar power output and torque range but as a first time modder i'm unaware of the reputations each company may have?
The ideal scenario is that R-tech respond that they do infact work on my car and all is well!

-----
Next issue being that i'm struggling to find an Intake system that seems to fit my car? although they claim to fit none of them account for this particular pipe? I just want to know is it needed?

This pipe connects to my original air box so I would assume its needed?

And in other news i've bought some brand new rear drop links as my offside one is knocking a tad

Revo is good with those engines. I'm not sure if you'll gain a lot with an intake...

From the pictures above you seem to have a K&N 57s-9500 Cold Air Intake. If this is the case, this CAI is only bolt on only for the single charge engine.
That pipe si connected to the CAI as seen in the photos below.

I would definetly go with REVO for your engine but then I am a bit subjective because I am very happy with their products and customer care.
The K&N 57s-9500 Cold Air Intake will do very little for performance but the sound is awesome. With the lid off it sounds like a 300+ car :). And the intake noise is quite interesting.

Hope this helps!

R-Tech have point blank not bothered getting back to me so I assume REVO it is :), Nearest is only 20miles from me also :D

That is incredibly helpful mate! - I Have sent the K&N back now as the seller offered a full refund as he falsely advertised it to fit the twin charger model so thats a bonus and instead I have gone for a one of these :D

So I have just bought some MK5 Folding mirrors and controllers from @basman and today I started to fit one side, easy enough job to do once I figured out that I needed to swap the controllers out of the bought unit to fit mine? Not sure if this is right but it seems to working fine!
I don't have the switch yet to operate the folding mechanism however I plugged my VCDS and function tested it and it folded and unfolded beautifully!

Here is my original controller

And this is the "Socket" the retaining pin sits into

Compared to the socket set up of the newer unit>?
new

All I did was disconnect the controller of the new unit and replaced wthe controller of my old unit and it seems to functioning perfectly!

I wonder does any one know how I enable the ambient lighting affect on the underside of the mirror and when I should expect them to come on?

Search about retrofitting puddle lights. It's just adding numbers to code it. The lights turn on just when it's dark and when you unlock your doors and when you open your doors.

Oh? I have Fitted it as is and coded it up and it all works wonderfully with no fault codes? Should I bother changing it again as it seems okay now?

indeed they are :) I was just making sure :L, Got them in and working, although I suspect they came off a 3 door? as I can't operate my rear windows from the front switch - isn't an issue and I may be able to sort out on VCDS

old vs new

old

new

After fitting my folding mirrors and playing around, one of the indicator housings was cracked so I thought I would try the tinted ones to see how they looked :)
