RNS 510 Firmware help
« on: August 13, 2015, 04:54:24 pm »
Hi all,
I am looking for a bit of help updating my RNS 510. I've done loads of searching and because I have a version C it appears I need firmware 381x, however I've tried downloading the relevant file from the link on this website but my laptop doesn't want to know. So after reading many success stories on here it would be great if someone could advise me where I can buy a cd with the firmware already installed, or even if someone could send me a cd with the firmware already installed, in exchange for some beer money of coarse! Thanks for reading, David

I have ISO images of various levels of the firmware which I can put onto dropbox, are you able to download OK, will the laptop burn the image to disc ?

Thanks for the reply, and yes it would be great if you would do that for me to try. It should download alright and then hopefully Windows disc image burner will burn it onto a cd.  Thanks David

Hi,

Here are 2 images, the 3810 is quite an old version which failed on my unit, the 4120 worked a treat as my hard disk seems to be a smaller one

C version can upgrade to 5274 modified. Search the net, you'll find it.

Thanks for the links, I decided to play safe and downloaded version 4120 from your links and it updated perfectly! :happy2: Is there any chance you have the links to the latest map updates as well? Many thanks David

What's the point of playing it safe when there's been more than thousands of examples of the safety of the upgrade?

I've upgraded my old version A to 5238 modified, directly from a 28XX firmware or something. A C version can upgrade to 5274 modified, no questions asked.
