First Post - weird boot lock problem
« on: August 15, 2015, 09:54:30 am »
Hello all,
My first post on this site.
Wondering if anyone could help in figuring out a bizarre problem on my 2005 Golf.

It's similar to other posts I've seen but has some differences.
Symptoms are:
Boot often gets stuck (locked) when it should open + led brake light off + no rear wiper.
But also, when the boot actuator is activated this makes the rear wiper move for a split second..?
Also, pressing the door lock switch (on the drivers door) operates the rear wiper...?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Hakan

More than likely broken wiring in tailgate loom... Usually the earth wire

Have similar with my 2005. Rear wiper didn't work and boot was iffy with opening, would take 2 or 3 goes to get it to pop. Removed my rear wiper anyway. Rear high level brake light also doesn't work but mine looks cracked and full of gunk/liquid. Is it just checking under the umbilical bit between boot and body?

Thanks Andy7ven.
Shame that the rubber gaiter is in the way.
Does this have to be sliced open to view the wires?

Thanks

Had mine repaired at the stealers they didn't damage the rubber gaiter...

Take a look at this page, someone with the same problem...
