Reset Low-line MPG
« on: December 19, 2009, 02:36:27 pm »
Guys,

I've got for some reason a dual trip display on the average MPG computer, the one that changes less frequently.
My Low-line display shows a figure with 1 in the corner plus a second with 2. I can scroll to this by clicking the underside stalk button once more. I want to clear it down to just one again however.

I've held the rest button but it puts both to 0.0 rather than clearing the second.
How do I condense it back to just one display?

Why's it do this, as from new it just showed one figure? (aside from the live trip that changes by the second obviously)

Thanks,
Pete.
Pete

The first one is the average mpg of the car over the last journey or few journeys. It resets after about two hours of ignition switch off. So if you do any number of journeys with less than two hours' break between each one the average mpg will be the total of all journeys that day.

The second one is the average mpg over the life of the vehicle and only resets when you tell it to.

This is why you cannot have just one mpg counter.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Do both the low-line and the high-line show 2 displays for the average MPG?

I just don't remember seeing two displays for the average (with the 1 in the bottom right hand corner).

I don't know what "low-line" is. The standard display is midline (halfsized) and the fullsized one is highline.

Both show the average journey mpg (1) and lifetime average mpg (2). You probably just didn't notice it before.

My mistake, mid-line then. It's the basic one I've got anyway.
If it's always been there then fair enough, I've reset both anyway in my haste.

Thanks SW  :happy2:
