I used autosmart g101 all purpose cleaner sprayed it over everything used a detailing brush then just rinsed it off with a hose with the engine running. Used autoglym rapid retailer after it dried out to give it a bit of shine

So decide to spray the CAI to try and go with the red theme. I think it looks good but that's just me

Was also spraying the Engine Cover which I have decided to go with the main bit as red also and then the strip with the wording and VW badge all black. The black spray came out a bit lumpy on the strip and ran out of red spray for the main part so could not fit today and will have to sand down the strip and buy more red paint for the main part. Did fit it on and the colour theme looked good though.

Also wiped down the engine bay a bit so looks a bit more clean now

Much better than the Forge Twintake!!!  :signLOL:

Up to around 5% on the LTFT when I tried a RamAir MAF tube/scaling on Revo software, but the LTFT is not indicative of peak readings, it is only a blanket correction added to the RPM range under mixed load conditions, i.e. normal driving

All this fuel trim business - It's a bit lost on me, but from what I've read the Revo intake fares best. How does this compare to the Ramair intake? Pros, cons etc?

I'm looking for reasons NOT to buy the Ramair oversize kit to finish off what will be a 2+ R-Tech k03 build by that time (full BCS with 200 cell, Loba pump, and probably an S3 IC) as it's a much more attractive price!

Revo is closest to OEM, the RamAir isn't too bad and Niki corrects the MAF scaling as much as possible during the mapping session. plenty use the RamAir intake without issue

A basic Revo intake is only around £100 more than the RamAir intake which isn't a huge amount when compared with a LOBA pump, and you'll be saving out over an Airtech or similar intercooler by fitting a used alloy S3 core etc.

Cheers Dan. Yeah a hundred here or there is nothing once you consider the total cost of 2+. Haven't heard a bad thing about the Revo intake.

Interesting thread not long ago discussing the bigger coolers on k03 cars. Seems the S3 is optimal for a k03.
I've already got the big jobs ticked off - exhaust is on, making lovely noises, and inducing clutch slip even on the existing Stage 1 R-Tech map. Huge difference in performance to the oem system.

Helix organic clutch and oem dmf going on tomorrow. Will probs nip down to Hinckley soon and get the map tweaked to the exhaust. Then plan the rest of the hardware. BBT hybrid k03 is a definite consideration. It'd be rude not to make full use of the new clutch wouldn't it!

BBT hybrid K03 is essentially a K04. If going that avenue then I'd consider a better cooler now to save the hassle in future.

I've got a china cooler on my 2+ K03 (unfortunately Revo rather than R-Tech at the moment - long story) and its great fun with plenty of low down torque. I think the issue is with fitting the huge wellycooler which is an awful lot bigger in terms of volume

Yes, good point. Obviously plenty of k04 cars run the S3 IC at 330-350bhp without problems, but it's one thing being fine on a dyno and another being fine on the road. Being a BWA I'm not looking for huge power, maybe 330bhp, so it's something I'll discuss with Niki when I'm next down there.

The perfect solution would be an IC that worked optimally at k03 2+ but was then still efficient with the turbo swapped for the hybrid. Whether that's realistic or not is something I need to research more.

Still need to sort out some proper brakes before going much further with the power anyway.

I'm probably going to go for TTRS calipers with 340mm discs. Are those 6 pots the Brembo 18z?

Did consider 18z but a few people say they induce a bit too much pedal travel. Plus they're heavier than the TTRS and 340mm combo.

I'll still be open to options. It's a few months off but TTRS calipers seem a bit scarce at the minute!

Yes they are 18z. I also thought of audi brakes but fashion won over function :)  brake travel isnt problem, I didnt noticed it in my case. They are heavy, and discs are heavy, 12kg each if I remmember right. But they looks awesome :) and brake nice

Yeah they do look stunning. And they are easy to get hold of at the minute.

I think nearer the time I need to find someone with the TTRS setup, and someone with the 18z setup, and see if I can get a quick drive to see how they feel. Long shot but I'd take the chance if it was offered!

There's also the Forge 6 pot kit. Seems a good option, although some people are put off by the fact that they're 'made in china'.
