It's been a little while since I've updated this thread but I'm still spending plenty of time reading everyone else’s!

The number plate bracket I bought to mount a square plate aligned to the right started to piss me off. However tight I had it, it would eventually swivel around and to be honest I didn’t like the way it was protruding out from the car, and then I caught it while parking, which was the final straw!

So I went on the hunt for a US spec number plate plinth and finally found someone selling one, more so they found me though an advert I posted on the MK5 Golf owners group on Facebook. I did consider ordering one from ECS in the US but including postage it came to something like £75!

Once it arrived I decided on some new number plates as I’ve come to the conclusion I just don’t like pressed plates, not sure what it is about them. I bought some raised gel plates from Fullhouse Customs (https://www.facebook.com/fullhousecustomsuk/?fref=ts), and they are without doubt the best quality plates I’ve come across and I really like the look of them.

I wanted something to put a bottle of oil in to keep in the car and came accross this nice VW Castrol promotional pouch with 1l of oil which I won for £10 on ebay which I though was quite a deal, it now lives in my boot as it has velcro on the back to stick to the carpet.

I've bought a cam follower as with my next service which I will do soon I will change this as well.

Finally, this turned up in the post today from Demon Tweeks :jumpmove: hope to fit this weekend.

Next i'd quite like to get some new matching tyres and have a wheel refurb, my birthday is coming up so I might try to persuade the gf

And we're sorted! Revo TFSI air intake fitted. Worst bit of fitting was when I dropped the pliers and spent 30mins trying to retrive them from the engine bay :chicken: Havent taken it for a spin yet but doesnt seem too noisy which is good. The bay needs a good clean now.

It's been a busy weekend. After fitting the Revo intake I went on the look for a TTS engine cover. One turned up in Wales which was only a 40min drive. It was a good price and also came with a Prosche coolant cap, Porsche oil cap and a black washer cap so I nipped over to get them today.

I just need the mounting pins now so going to call AKS in the morning to see if they can help.

nice steady progress, that front square plate mount looks great, I think a set of xenon (or xenon look) headlights would really set the front off!

Nothing that new, just a few photos from a clean while it was nice at the weekend. I did however buy a solid aluminium Revo plaque for the rear. I think I’d like to go stage 1 soon but going to wait to see how much my insurance drops when I renew in a few months.

Thank you mate, yours looks very tidy as well, I do check in on it when you update the thread.

I reached a milestone today and hit the 70,000+ miles point.

It's my birthday at the weekend so I asked for some new tyres as a present. My family must think I'm well boring asking for tyres, but i'm still excited, time to get rid of the budgets on the back :jumpmove:

I opted for these which I ordered this evening...

Expect some better photos form now on as I also got a new phone in the form of a Samsung S6 maily because of the really good photo quality.

I sent a message to Revo on ebay making a slight complaint as the rear badge I ordered came a ding on as it was packaed poorly and it took over 10 days to arrive. Without asking they just sent out a replacement, but I'd already fitted the other one to my car.

If anyone wants the solid aliminium badge you're welcome to it if you cover the postage, they cost £15 from Revo. Only catch, you must put it on your car that has something Revo and upload a photo :happy2:

The vredestein ultrac sessantas are fitted and what a noticeable difference they make. Much quieter, comfortable and stick to the road.
My previous tyre set up had a slight skipping when turning right which has now gone. Also, they look pretty awsome...

Today was meant to be a day off work sorting things out for a holiday, but kind of turned into a car day (priorities).

Decided to change the cam follower ahead of the next service, it didnt look too bad considering i'm now on 70,400 miles, but I changed it anyway.

I ordered a heat resistant cold air intake and aluminium trumpet from RamAir as I wanted to direct more air to the Revo CAI hidden behind the headlight. I'd seen a few others on here do it and I quite like the look, I also hope it helps the CAI breath. I struggled to get the fog light back as it was a bit of a squeeze.

Also, I've got an issue with the "check coolant" light coming on. It's happening intermittently, usually when I start up after leaving it a while. Coolant is well where it should be and hasn’t really gone down much. Could it be the sensor? Any thoughts?

It's quite common for this to happen on a cold morning, the sensor seems to play up. It's not been particularly cold recently but the sensor is a weak point.

Cheers. I'm going to top it up to right to the max line and then get the multimeter out to see how it's functioning, I've found a good Youtube video on it. If not it might need replacing!

So the coolant issue seems to have resolved itself by topping it up just over the maxìmum line after doing some reading about it.

This weekend I took all of the wheels off and gave them a deep clean in the bath, sealed them with poorboys, and coated the tyres in Maguires tyre gel which is much better than any spray stuff I've used.

Cleaned the engine bay with a pressure washer and machine cleaner by Auto Glym and fitted the TTS engine cover with some reproduction bolts I bought from a guy who makes them on the Audi Sport forum. I've removed the middle section to smooth and paint.

Finally gave the car a good clean inside and out and managed to wax the front end before giving up for the day.

I changed my front VW badge to a black one but think I prefer the original.
