Over zealous with the wax - What's the best way of getting it off ?

I take it you mean on the black trim sections, if that's the case then I use either APC and a micofibre or a bit of old clay bar.

I just use a bit of APC and a nail brush. Works every time

The plastic is quite textured, so the nail brush idea + APC should work.
