I don't really understand the point of you posting and saying you know how to do it and then not saying how. What was the actual point of you posting anything in the first place? I thought this was a place people come to look for help and answers on a subject we all have a common interest in.

Pop into your local body shop, they'll show you on your vehicle as would I if you were in your vehicle!

I'm in my vehicle right now!

It's a long shot but if you pull the outer handle out as far as poss and look behind it you will see a black clip try use a small screwdriver to pop it off the handle and if you can do that it should open from the inside.

I've had this at work a few times where the black plastic clip moves from its groves and doesn't allow the door to open inside or out.

Hope this helps

Exactly what ive just read/seen on youtube etc
Sounds like its worth a try mate
Seems it will only work though if your module is actually clicking/unlocking when you press the fob if it's making no attempt to do anything it's doubtful it will work as car is still dead locked!

Yeah I forgot to say that about the module clicking. When my sister bought her seat Ibiza I managed to get it £200 cheaper and did this for her for free

Well mine sounds like it try's to unlock with the rest of the doors but then bounces back to being locked so I'll give that a go as well. Thanks for the help people I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow.
And Matthew can you put a link up to the YouTube video please.

Well I've tried copying the video but no luck. I'm not convinced as it would only be pulling the latch just the same as the handle does, but the door is still deadlocked so it won't make a difference. (Well that's what I think)

Recently replaced my passenger door module as was making a horrible noise, £35 off ebay and took just over an hour to change it
I Thought it was a relatively simple job but my door was unlocked/open etc
When the bugger is locked shut is when the tears beging by sounds of it

Only other option Carl could be to tear the inner door card off and cut through the inner door skin to expose the latch etc
Bit drastic but struggling to see any alternative if it just won't unlock
Maybe remove passenger seat too for better access

If the absolute worst came to the worst would you go in from the outside or inside?

The door skin would be easier to replace than finding a matching door card I'd imagine.

As soon as I had this problem I  bought the module which failed so I had it to hand to swap over for when the door opened. Buy new genuine.

Good luck pal.

I bought non genuine from a chap on ebay after he was recomended by people on this forum
All seems spot on so far andat £35 its around £70 cheaper than Genuine item, genuine items are absolute garbage prone to failing anyway so how much worse can it get
As for door skin id rather drive around without a door card temporary as finding a replacement door skin the exact right paint colour etc could be a nightmare and expensive if needed painting too  :surprised:

Well I think that's where I'm at now.
As the outer skin is what you remove to change the module thats the route I'll be taking. Going to buy an outer skin and get it painted to match the car, then I'll angle grind the old one open and swap it over.

I really didn't want to resort to this as I feel it's a bodge but as its the stupidest design ever by VW I can't see any other way.

Did this not work, taken from the link.....

Update 6/8/12 - Another method!
So my door locked again AND i couldnt get it open by the above and came up with this. Note it will only work on a 5 door car on only on the front doors (I did the passanger and assume the driver will be the same).
Open the rear door so you can access the front door. Remove the black plastic trim from the front door that covers the bolts (see outer door skin removel photos) I used and allen key to slide in behind the trim and pull it out then slid it up to the roof to get it out. I put a small scatch on my door but that was me being in a rush for no reason.
Once its off you can access the bolt that lets you remove the door handle (again refer to linked outer skin DIY).
Once you have the door handle off you should be able to use a special tool 157 (or a screw driver) to move the RED lever to the RIGHT to unlock the car. It maybe a bit hard to see/access because there is a white cover over the unit but its worth a try.

Well I spoke to the garage that had it in to do the work earlier this week and they said they have tried this but no joy. They also had a locksmith in and he couldn't get into it either.
They have also just told me that even if I cut the outer skin off it I won't be able to get into the car as it will remain deadlocked, but as far as I'm concerned if I cut the skin off I'll be able to get to everything and surely be able to get the door open

Honestly mate id tear the interior card off myself
Might even get it off without too much damage if your careful
Have a look on YouTube for videos of exact fixing points on the door cards

As said above did you not try the other method with it being 5 door?  :happy2:
