Problem with air bag light
« on: August 21, 2015, 09:55:45 pm »
Hey guys wondering if any one can help me out.
My air bag light has come on and I got my friend who has a reader to plug my mk 5 gti in.
It is coming up with the fAult code 01218
And says
Side air bag igniter passenger
Side (N200) upper limit reached
Any one got any ideas how I can repair this we tried to reset light but it's just coming back up.
Also could any one tell me if the light is on is it an mot failure or just an advisory ??
Thanks in advance guys

This fault occurred twice on mine but after I clipped the loom back into place underneath the seat and had the codes cleared again it's stayed off. A replacement igniter is about £200 plus fitting.

An air bag light is an instant MOT failure. The air bags WILL NOT deploy in the event of a crash while the light is lit so best get it sorted!

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!
