I love this mod, would be top of my list if I had a GTi.  I was kinda hoping Mr Hedge would have done it by now so I could have a look at it.

Mate, awesome guide so far. I saw the other forumite who had done it (can't recall the name) and would have done it if I didn't have to cut bits of the car off.

Would you consider a downloadable PDF when the write-up's finished, so we can print it out and work on the car at the same time?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

It was Golfman S/W he was the first on this forum but there was a load of people involved on the VWNavi forum.

Make sure you fit the drain hose and point it to the offside of the car and into the inner skin of the door so that any water that gains access through the badge a) doesn't fall onto the lock assembly and b) enter the boot and start to fill the spare wheel well
l
Its not 100% necessary to remove the C pillar trim, you can feed the wire up the side, mine refused to budge without the threat of a crease forming

Don't be tempted to use a fused spur high than 5A, if the motor has any problems in the winter cold weather the fuse will blow before causing any more serious problems and it needs to be a permanent feed and not fed from the ignition if you want to gain access to the boot without the key in the ignition

The view from the camera at night is really good considering the lack of light from the tail lights and reversing light

Great write up. I was beginning to talk myself out of the RNS as Alpine and Kenwood units are so much cheaper, but i love the OEMness of the camera!

Am i right in thinking theres a cheaper camera that doesnt go in the VW badge? Anyone know where it is located?

Any photos of the boot after the mount triangle was cut away?
