Intermittent light judder at idle.
« on: August 21, 2015, 09:32:58 am »
Hi,
I have a 2005 gti which i brought from a main dealer in May 2014.

The first 8 months were trouble free but recently my fortune has not been so great. Under my 12 month warranty I had alot of work done.

Recently I have been having an issue with a judder at idle which seems to come and go. There are no fault codes (so the main dealer were baffled....). I have taken it to 3 different vag specialists all of whom cannot replicate the problem. Obviously I cannot keep taking it to mechanics and being charged £65+ for diagnostics.

I believe the judder started after the dealer replaced the; radiator, intercooler intake pipe and charcoal canister. (4 months prior to this they have replaced; pcv, diverter valve)

Anyway I wondered if anyone has any similar issues to the fault I will try and better describe below:

Intermittent light judder at idle.
Happens when the engine is up to temperature.
No performance loss.
Wont happen straight away but occurs after 30secs-1 minute after sitting at idle.
Happens most frequently when Im stop start in traffic.
More frequent when the car is on an incline.

The car had a major service in November, so plugs are not even a year old. I also changed the fuel filter a couple of months back. I had the injectors looked at and they seem fine. Cam belt was done in May 2014.

The car has only got 60k miles on it so is very low mileage for its age.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
