Help With Codes Please
« on: August 27, 2015, 03:07:43 pm »
Hi Guys wife mk5 Gti came up with the engine check light,

Runs a bit lumpy and seems to be breathing through the oil dip stick.

Got a screen shot of the snapon scanner if anyone could help ?

Its an air leak mate,  check your intake clamps are done up tight. could be a faulty DV or even PCV valve

Just checked and its the original PCV so just ordered one from VW will borrow my m8's Vagcom and double check the the code dosnt reappear .

DV Next if not, I put a smoke tester on it and its only leaking out of the airbox.

Mass consensus is that Revision G is the one to get.

The Rev D is a piston valve, and while more 'reliable' by design, they can still seep pressure.

Rev G is the latest and greatest diaphram valve. Holds boost nicely and works like a dream. I had a new pcv, cam follower and Rev G fitted a couple of months ago and it made a massive difference.

Since then I've had a remap and it boosts consistently well, so I'm sure the Rev G was a good choice.

Think I have a p/n somewhere..

No worries. Worth doing the follower while you're at it if it hasn't been done recently too.

The dv, pcv and cam follower seem to be 'the usual suspects' in many cases. And they're not expensive parts, or a big job to fit, so it's worth getting the lot done as much as it's worth doing oil & filters etc.

Hope it sorts it for you anyway.

not likely. its in the fuel pump on the right side of the engine.

about 30quid and take 10 mins to replace. well worth doing though
