walk kit

full set of vf engine mounts

possibly a dbilas flowmaster ko4 intake, heat shield and engine cover

Thats turning into a beast now James. 

Please excuse my stupidity, but what are the full benefits of the uprated engine mounts, i have not looked much into these.

basically stops the engine moving around so much under heavy acceleration giving you a better feel comes highly recommended from a few people who have had them fitted - i believe jonny doing that awesome project on this website is also using them..

So its a bit like a suspension, handling mod really for extreme use ideal for your track days, let us know please the difference in the cabin vibration after fitting.

I've now driven a couple of Mk5 GTI's with VWR's engine mounts (their Fast Road version) and I didn't find either car uncomfortable at all. They also both had poly bushes throughout - Again, VWR's.

well had all the bits fitted today, bilsten pss10, WALK kit, full set of vf engine mounts  and a little extra one: dbilas flow master k04 intake, heatshield and engine cover.

and also thought i would run it on the their mustang dyno - results were 324bhp and a rather high 353 lbft torque, map looks nice and smooth up until the end but pleased, might improve a bit as car gets used to intake..

sorry no decent pics yet of the car on the coils just got home and a bit dark, but you get a glimpse at the lowering on the above pic, is rather low bit more than i wished but looks good, drive home to london was good mix of m's and a roads - ride was firm but not harsh, have it on settings 5 front and rear, so mid way got to flung it round some corners and handled well

vf engine mounts are a big difference, car does vibrate more especially when idling in gear and in traffic i have found myself putting it in neutral more than before, but soon goes once your up and running - main difference is the sound and feel of the car - much more engine noise in the cabin but sounds good though  engine feels mounted very firmly and you get some good feedback through the steering wheel  when thottling it.

overall car feels totally different from when i set of this morning, hard to explain but good.

How did you find the WALK ?

Engine mounts next for me too , although Im undecided on the version (VF / VWR etc) as yet.
You indicate theres a difference between in neutral and in gear (are you manual or DSG?) why is that ? wouldve expected none or little difference.

Nice power graph  , interesting that the superchips ED30 map doesnt have a blip @ 3500 that most other graphs show.

I have dsg, when sat in traffic if you leave it in D you get some vibrations but in N they disappear..

It has also made gear changes in dsg alot more noticeable, especially when down shiffting in manual mode - the feedback you get makes it feel like a manual.

WALK kit seems to do what everyone else has stated - alot less wheel spin/traction issues when exiting corners with throttle on

only had the one long drive yesterday and back in work today so not had a good chance to test - but pleased so far

makes it feel like a racing car  for those who like the nice smooth and comfy ride in the stock GTi then the engine mounts are probably not a good idea  I have been told they do settle down after been run in though

You'll most likely notice the engine mounts calm down once the weather warms up, they become just that little bit more compliant.
