First impressions of RCD510
« on: August 25, 2015, 10:27:23 pm »
My 2005 GTI had a nasty RCD300 which I've been suffering the last 3 months of ownership.

To top it off the previous owner had liberated the cd changer from the arm rest.

I picked up a mint 2010 Blaupunkt DAB RCD510 for £165 off ebay without code. My VW dealer gave me the code for free without question.

I got a revision S canbus upgrade from a good seller on here - Pashka -  re-coded to my cars details.

Tonight I Installed the radio without DAB aerial and I'm actually seriously impressed with the difference over the original unit.  Ok it wouldn't win a competition but it is significantly better than the RCD300. The sound is richer,  cleaner,  crisper and more detailed. The bass makes the interior move slightly with the frequency but without rattling or distorting.

The touch screen is clear and the operation easy apart from cd selection. Cd loading is a bit slow but the SD card option is quicker.

Absolutely worth the money in my opinion. It looks spot on in the mk5 and feels very well built. Looking forward to connecting a DAB aerial next.
