Mk5 GTI Side Skirts

I have my wifes GTI booked in for front and rear bumpers to be resprayed aswell as having the Genuine Ed30 add ons painted and fitted. I want to get the side skirts smoothed down and painted also and the bodyshop has requested that I buy new ones.

Does anyone know where else other than VW I can buy these from as VW have only one side in stock and I need the pair within the week.

On a side note – does have any alternative suggestions for the side skirts that will compliment and not look out of place with the genuine Ed30 items?

Why have they said to buy new ones..
The gti ones are texture and need sanding down then build up with primer to get the smooth look.The skirts from tps are £30 each.
The r32 and I think ed30 are smooth and come in grey primer are £245 each.
Lot of body shops don't like to do the gti ones as it's time consuming

I'll contact tps.

They said that the existing ones may have issues when removed so to save time and possibly extra money prepping buy new ones. They know that they need smoothing/painting etc.

My bodyshop suggested the same - he wanted to be sure that they went on nicely, as in removing them they could be distorted and you'd struggle to get a uniform upper edge. New skirts leave less to chance. Took his advice and got a great result as well as a perfect colour match.

He wasn't looking forward to working the textured plastic but, as I reminded him, I was the one paying!

Hardly expensive for a pair of standard skirts, even without TPS discount though, is it.
