canbus gateway fitting in manchester.
« on: August 27, 2015, 10:56:53 pm »
Hi everyone. Does anyone know if there is anyone in the manchester area that can supply/fit canbus gateway.
I want to upgrade my stereo from the standard one in my 56 plate gti.
I know eddie seems to be the main guy. But he lives to far away for me.
Am i right in thinking if i upgrade to a non vw stereo, i dont need to upgrade the canbus. Or is that wrong.
Ive looked about but there is conflicting info.
Thanks

The first place to look is the VCDS register on here to see if there is anyone near your area: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,88875.0.html

I would take @Pashka up on his offer if i lived anywhere near him as he is one helpful chap, helped me loads and answered lots of queries when i have them

Here I come to hijack your thread! :fighting:

Same boat here, desperate to do some upgrades but I'm knee deep and lost in the various options of wanting to retrofit the below to my new (to me) 2006 DSG GTI:

- Cruise - do I need just the stalk or 'the wire' and the module, dunno!
- Sat nav - RNS510, which version plays with which Bluetooth to facilitate an iPhone connection!? Or is the RNS315 the way to go for ease.....but can it be made to work with MFSW?

Can make it up to Leeds but based just off J12 of the M6 (South Staffs) if any kind soul could help!

Cheers Gents
