i have some faults..
« on: August 18, 2015, 11:25:21 am »
Anyone had these before? What they relate to? I've had the three engine sensors priced up and they weren't cheap so I'm wondering if anyone could advise what to change first to then see if it's responsible for setting other sensors off when they may in fact not be as All I know is that they work as a circuit and if one goes off.. It could cause others to go off.. I hope that makes sense?

I should also mention a symptom I've noticed..
When I first start the car up and set off as normal.. Sometimes it feels as though the engine is holding back and feels like it's a bit juddery if I go over 2000 revs.. E.g when pulling out of my street onto a main road..

Another symptom I'm having also is when idling.. The engine becomes quite rattley.. This does not happen all the time but I've noticed it a lot.. Two people I've spoke to have said it could be the flywheel but surely the noise would go if I press the clutch down which it doesn't.. Once the throttle is applied it will goes, it seems to do it mostly when the car is idling on a slight hill no matter if its uphill or downhill.. Another person has said it could be hunting for fuel which I am personally leaning towards myself but I'm no mechanic by any means.. But could this be down to one of the sensors that are faulty?..

Here's the results I got from my scan.

I've tried searching the site for these codes with no luck to finding the same code numbers i have received from my scan.

my main concern at the moment is the rattle noise i get when idling as if its hunting for fuel and the judderyness i sometimes get when driving at low speeds, can't say i've noticed the juddering once the car has got warm but then again i haven't exactly tried to get it to happen either

Have you had the engine cover off as of late - did the faults arrive after that?

When the car was serviced yes but this rattle noise i hear when idling was there before the service and has been there for quite a while but nothing has ever been diagnosed with it from mechanics i've taken it too.. which is when i got a friend with genuine vagcom / VCDS to do a scan for me to see if this could help me get the issues solved

I would take the engine cover back off at look at it very closely for hair line cracks - I've seen those type of fault code with air leaks caused by the cover being cracked!

The rattle is a different problem and my thoughts would be the dual mass flywheel - if you get it put up in the air on a two poster leave it running in neutral I feel the noise will show its self.

Both the above testes will cost very little and would be my starting point after reading your post!

Could the rattle be a worn engine mount?

Again, as above, lifting up will reveal all. I would suspect that those faults relating to the engine are sensors that have been disconnected or fuses blown.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

As for the EPC light and Engine Management lights.. They disappeared after having the scan done and faults cleared.. They both came back on around a week later after an incident where I pulled out a junction and put my foot down a bit in first.. I've just had the faults cleared again and they have gone and is back to normal again but I'm expecting them to come back on but I don't know where to start with actually resolving the issue..

Also the intermittent rattle issue I'm currently having at idle, it sounds like its coming more from the top of the engine
