Newbie with a little help needed.
« on: December 16, 2009, 10:01:46 pm »
Hi guys, ive just bought myself a mk 5 golf gti, and ive been reading intensely about all the mods im planning to do.
Ive had a few nice gtis in the past my minted MK2 and a 230bhp mk4 1.8t, although i havnt been in the VW fold for quite some, but dont worry im back with avengeance !

Anyhoo. It looks a good forum this, it seems everyone is MOD mental, so hopefully ill get some good advice from you guys and yous could advise me on some of the mods ive selected.

My budget is £3500 Not a penny more ! here is a wee list for yas !

Styling

18" Monzas in eagle f1s - Bought already should be here anyday
ED30 front vallance
R32 rear lights
rabbit badge
Phillips extreme bulbs
aluminium heater surrounds
aluminium dimpled mirror adjusters

Engine

Revo stage 2
miltek turbo back, high flow cats
uprated VW diverter
carbono intake
ITG filter

Chassis

VW Racing springs
VW Racing ARBs
R32 BBK,
lightweight discs
Some nice pads ( there doesnt seem to be a lot of pad choices )

Sorterd, i think this sounds like it should be a good fast road track set up ( about 3 track days a year)
any opinions guys ?????????

Questions
1) will stage 2 software be fine with an intake like the carbono, i know its not quite as good as the likes of the twintake, ect
2) R32 BBK, i only plan to fit the front kit, should this cause any front rear bias problems
3) Any brake pad suggestions
4) If you guys think anything is Sh1t, Just tell me please

Thanks, The names Bryan by the way  :drinking:

Welcome along matey!  :santa:

Everything that you have mentioned there sounds perfect for a fast-road set up for the GTI!

A Carbonio can handle Stage 2 no probs, you may see better figures if you added an intake like the ITG or Forge Twintake but the Carbonio is certainly up to the job. With R32 BBK kit many people just put the fronts on and leave the rears standard, I have never heard of any issues with front or rear bias, you should be fine   :happy2:

  Its not looking good for the old bank account, i phoned VW racing today and im now going to get the VWR coilovers, im still looking at 3.5k though although im including the price of the wheels and tyres ive just bought, because im putting that down to a maintenance issue, and that fund doesnt include maintenance  :rolleye:

Weclome, Intersting name choice lol!

I would ditch the carbonio and get a better intake as the carbonio is just eye candy, and dear eye candy.
