More GTI problems

Hi all, looking some advice once again! Sorry !!

I have just spent a small fortune on my GTI, well over a grand getting all the important things done, Cam chain etc etc.....

So everything was going well, enjoying the power again after replacing a ripped divert valve.

Then I noticed it!! A serious rattle when releasing  the clutch in first gear. Very noticeable when under a bit of stress for example a hill start. There is also a whirl or some might say a whine when in first and second.

I assume it's clutch related, but would appreciate as much information and advice as I can get. I haven't noticed the clutch slipping or anything, I should also mention the car is running a stage 1 remap which I'm sure hasn't done my poor clutch any favours.

How many miles has your standard clutch/flywheel done?
The noise you describe sounds like the flywheel

It definitely did help, although this engine is very well known for its tractor like ticking.

At 80k running a stage 1 remap I would guess its time for a nice new clutch/flywheel
Sooner rather than later too - if the flywheel lets go it may make a mess of the gearbox bellhousing depending on load/speed and how spectacularly it fails

I was hoping you weren't going to say that. But it's what I expected. It's going to be hard to bring myself to get it done after spending so much on it recently.

Any advice on parts or should I just stick to OEM? Not planning on any more power any time soon.

One more question? Would anyone have any idea on how much this is going to set me back.

Awesome do an uprated clutch kit including flywheel and release bearing for £470

Standard kits are about the £340 mark if I remember rightly

My local specialist quoted my around a grand for installing - that included them buying all the uprated parts
Although touch wood my motor is on 172K and still running original standard clutch flywheel etc but no remap
