Revo Stage 1
« on: December 21, 2009, 03:57:56 pm »
I recently had stage 1 revo installed & am extremly satisfied... after about a month of driving I have noticed that slightly concerns me. When the car is in second (dsg) I notice that from about 2000 rpm till 2.5 the car seems to as its catching up with itself... feels like its actually revving more than it’s supposed to... As soon as it gets past 2.5 then its perfect, I know it sounds weird but I don’t know any other way to describe. All other gears are perfect & very smooth, only second has the issue

Just wondering if any you guys have noticed this...

Is the clutch starting to slip?

I have not heard of clutch slip yet with a DSG box, the clutches can handle way more power than a stage 1 map can throw at it, so i wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet.
Can you provide more info, IE  mileage have you had it from new  :happy2:

TC speak the truth , DSG are proving to be the gearbox of choice and can handle power well
(based on the nutters on here with stage 2+ cars and jonnyc now BT ing)

in theory if its a clutch issue then it would also manifest in 4th and 6th gear (DSG gurus is this correct?), and clutch slip usually starts in the highest ratio.

a change of gearbox oil helped Hurdy out when he had some DSG issues  :happy2:
(how many miles is your car?)

however dont assume the worst yet . :santa:

Thanks for the replys

I'm the second owner & have had the car since 20k.. currently has 30k...

Thing is it never used to do it before the map & as its so low down im sure it has to be something to do with map

By adding 50 lb ft of torque that the map generally increases, the dsg clutches wouldnt then struggle. If your near 40k service, might be worth an oil change or perhaps the box is low on fluid maybe?

or sling the car back to stock and see what happens maybe?

I had mine reset and a DSG service done after I had what I thought was clutch slip in my DSG box.

Works perfectly well now and as most will tell you, I'm pushing the limit in terms of power and torque with the DSG on a K04.

There are cars running big turbo's in the USA and still on stock clutchpacks.

Stage 1 shouldn't be any where near the limits of the handling capacity of the DSG clutchpack. :happy2:
Golf R gone.

I am probably miles out with this guess but are you sure your just not wheel spinning. If you have music on loud and are not quite use to the hit of power then you might just be spinning up the wheels. On stage one map it is quite a hit of power with Revo at just that point in the range.  The stage 2 map is somewhat smoother, well it is on the Ko3.  :happy2:

It's definitly not wheel spining.. I understand about the torque but I'm not flooring it in the slighest.. Very lightfooted on the gas.. It jus makes no sense as it's only second gear.. Could it be an issue that maybe in second the map was not applied properly? Dsg service could be an option but it seems too low in the rev range for me to be a problem with the box

What about on the stock map or with a change in settings?
