My edition 30 is on 94k bought it 88k for £8000. Before buying mine i looked at others that had done less mileage for more money but they weren't half as clean as mine or aswell spec'd. I used to buy cars on mileage when I first started driving but now It's a different market. When I got my mk1 leon cupra r I looked for 6 months and at loads of low mileage cars but ended up buying one at 102k which was immaculate compared to some with half the mileage. Some of the edition 30 out there are definitely over priced for low quality and low spec. I think the edition 30 is a special car and will be a future classic until then it's what your willing to pay or willing to sell for
Ultimately any car is worth what someone or the current market dictates!
As you said and I have to agree, I used to also many years ago look for cars on mileage and by that presume that the lowest mileage cars would be the better examples but after viewing these cars you soon realise that this is not always the case and in the end I have ended up buying a higher mileage example that was cheaper and in better condition!
Nowadays low spec is irrelevant to me as is mileage as a rule but in an ideal world if you could have everything then great, Both my TR ED30's have been basic in spec, Both Manuals, No Zenons, No MFSW, Basic RCD300 head units but at the time I was looking to buy they where both the best examples out of multiple cars that I viewed!
I sold my last ED30 for good money and it sold quickly too, The buyer had looked at other better specced cars at around the same price but they did not have the condition to warrant the price so he bought mine and without haggling too.
As you said the ED30 is a Special Edition car and warrants a higher price than the GTI and in theory should depreciate much less, Back in 2013 when I bought my first ED30 the market was very similar to how it is today which shows the ED30 is still commanding good money.
I would like to think if I advertised mine I would get good money for it as it is a decent example in my eyes.
