Under normal driving the decat doesn't appear to much louder in conjunction with the Milltek resonated back section. The non-res will have more sound to add, but I doubt it will be too loud unless you push the go fast pedal and push the revs out. At which point it will pop more. I've been told that it will spit out the odd flame too under max load overrrun

How much is that costing you to do, given I only paid £300 for my 3" decat from Milltek? Just as an idea of a cost comparison.

Not far off the same, around £40 cheaper at £260 fitted.

Isn't the decat from Milltek a complete section from the turbo to the back section though?

I am going to price up a downpipe from Powerflow to be 3 inches top to bottom and include a removable cat before I do this I think, just to see which is more cost effective.

Might be worth checking what the MOT rules are?

Is it the physical existence of a cat, or just the emmisons?.... because it might actually still pass without one.

Just emissions as far as I know.. Some cars will pass without no problem.. Civic Type R's always did..

I was told that on our cars a 100cell race cat  will pass an mot, surely the difference between 100cell cat and decat would be negligable so easier to just run one of them all the time  :rolleye:

I have 3 options

1. Decat
2. Milltek 200 cell cat
3 Still have the OEM system

Personally I didn't need yet another system.

There are alternatives that I'd considered, but none were really as practical. :happy2:

....Wouldn't the OEM system hold back and not exploit the benefits of your remap and other mods?

So if i was to go with the blueflame (3'' I believe) it would be considerably louder and perform better even with a stage 2 map? I want the noise to a certain degree...

Cant really comment on the Blueflame, think thats what Mat runs, sure he will be along to help soon.. As far as I know its not 'too' loud really, probs what your after if you want some more noise really..

u rang

its only loud when u put your foot down  and driven gentle its very nice and subtle ish but i for one love it and a few other members that have gone the same route have loved it and if u ask me it sounds so much meaner than the milltek and its a full 3"" system not like the milltek

Mods yes but way too many to stick in this little box

Thought as much, most do as far as I've heard, so long as the mapping is corrected properly to deal with it  :happy2:

Perhaps you could request Revo write a map that drops the emissions low enough sans-cat to pass an MoT? Loading an 'emissions test' map would be a lot easier than having to replace the cat every year.

I'm not sure who offers the choice of using the cruise stalk to change between maps (GIAC?) but you could one step further and have the emissions test map preloaded on the ECU. Then, on the off chance you ever get pulled for a road side test, at the flick of a switch, you'd pass and be on your way (will just a retification order for a defective - read: too noisey - exhaust).
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

That sounds like an excellent idea :happy2:
