About time I said hello
« on: September 21, 2015, 10:57:19 pm »
Been a lurker for some time now but I think it's time I said hello. So.... hello!

I've had my 2006 Mk5 GTI (BWA/K03) for almost 4 years now and been toying with the idea of remapping it. Finally took the plunge and got it booked into R-Tech for a stage 1 custom remap on 1st October.

Just had the pre-cat removed, Pipercross panel filter fitted and HPFP cam follower replaced. Going to get a service done by VW including 5W40 Millers Nanodrive oil and I'll be ready to roll. Will get the DV replaced with a rev G and PCV replaced with a rev R while it's with the R-Tech guys.

Hoping for around 250bhp and 300lb/ft. You could say I'm a little bit excited!

I'm also thinking about taking it to Castle Combe for a track day on the 5th. I've done plenty of track days in supercars (was at Everyman Racing in Loughborough last Tuesday in an Atom, R8, 458 Italia and a couple of McLarens) but I've never tracked my own car before so am a little apprehensive about that. My biggest worry is the brakes?? Oh well, one way to find out I guess.

Cheers all!
Matt.
