Key words here are 'dealer' and 'trade'. These people are in it to make money, and that's that. They'll offer you as little as they can get away with.

Private value is a whole different thing. Always sell privately unless there's a real reason why you can't.

6k for that is just silly isn't it?!

Try webuyanycar and get a baseline off there - that should be the absolute minimum you should work from

Where Napoleons armies marched with horse and musket and Hitlers Reich crumbled in blood and rubble, the warriors of Armageddon do battle against the landscape of hell now indeed thrive the ARMOURERS

Looked on we buy and it's around £5600 which is roughly the same as my other golf which is just a mk5 gti. It doesn't look like they see the edition 30 as more valuable.

As already said It's a Dealer !
Try selling a Static Caravan on a pitch on a site .....Parents were offered £7k for theirs (from the site owner) which the Site owner will sell at £15-£17k ! Even if you sell it privately the site owners wants 15% for doing F All !

Back on topic , anyone p/ex an ED30 at a dealer has a few cells missing or don't care less about money ..... :innocent:

Add 1.5-2k to a GTI
So Say GTI is on sale at £6,000 +1.5 / 2K = £7,500 & £8000

The problem can be the dealer just looks up the book price for a 7-8 year old Golf. These cars are mostly trading above book assuming they are in good condition. If the dealer does not stock this kind of car they will just pay the guide price.

There are quite a few specialists buying these cars from above trade price private sellers and then offering them a couple of £k+ above that.

You will likely get more selling privately, but I don't think it is that easy at the moment from the cars I have seen still available for sale.
I am looking for a good, low miles car to keep, I am a fussy buyer in no hurry, so have been following the market for a while!

Something wrong with it , if thats all you paid  :innocent: A dealer would want £1k profit out of the sale too . Dealers don't sell cars for less than they are worth , especially limited edition golfs. Whats your ltd edition number , put a photo of the engine bay on here too .

When I said dealer I didn't mean from VW but an independent dealer who didn't know much about the edition 30.  Drives perfect and I just had the dsg service at VW who checked over the car and could find no faults.  I have replaced the cam follower, which had very little wear.  Got a G Rev dv, original C was perfect and the pcv was recently replaced.  I honestly think I got lucky with it to be honest and the book is full of receipts had all new brakes less than six months ago and serviced.  I just got my details on VW system so gonna call and get my number shortly hopefully it's never been sent out  :happy2:

So does it say ED30 on the V5 ?
It is still very unusual to get a one owner car cheap and also for the buyer of a limited edition to let one go cheap .... It's not difficult to find a value for one on the internet ..... But then , you've been very lucky .
Many years ago i was after a Capri 2.8 , it was about £9k at the time and i saw one in the free paper for £85 . I assumed it was a misprint and £8500 , I called the seller who then said that the price was right ! It was her husbands car and she had found out he was having an affair , she had it in her name and he had gone away working (she thought with the other woman) so she decided to sell his pride and joy .... Someone got a right result !

Spotted this today, admittedly not a edition 30, but for an approved used VW with 12 month warranty at £6.5k, it seems a great deal: http://usedcars.volkswagen.co.uk/Golf-GTI/GTD/R/2.0-T-GTI-FSI-5-Dr/Workington/1530737-605267422-122389.aspx Wish it had been up when I was looking

It is an Edition 30 alright, hpi clear with a folder full of receipts.  I'm just off the phone with Dale and it's build number 700 and the plague is still there  :happy2:
