2005 Standard manual GTI - Thermostat query
« on: September 18, 2015, 01:09:22 pm »
Afternoon fellas

VW have supplied me with what I believe is the main thermostat for my 2005 manual GTI with AXX engine.

Does this look correct?

That looks correct. I found the front pipe the hardest its a hard line. There are two triple square screws holding it in place once you find these its easy.

No the alternator will have to come out. Not that difficult to get out just have a pry bar ready.

Thinking about getting my thermostat done.

What temp should the car run at?  Middle position on the temp gauge is 90 - should it be there?

In case it makes you feel better, I have to do mine too. Fluctuates all over the place.  How much was the genuine thermostat housing?

About 45 quid,  not bad but less manufacturing than the dv for the same!

Going to get mine done aswell. Is this the most up to date part number and suitable for a 2008 car?
