Temp gauge fluctuating
« on: September 16, 2015, 10:19:00 pm »
Hi

Recently bought a GTI, and noticed the temperature gauge fluctuates. Warms up fine then will drop down to 70, raises back up to 90 and just goes between them.

Is this normal? Or a sensor having a mare?

Any help appreciated.

3 hours?!  :surprised: I hope that includes 2 1/2h of standing around and drinking tea before hand!!

I'll get some pics over the weekend Andy

My stat was done not so long ago by a Audi master tech, even he said it took a good few hours. The stat is right at the front below the inlet, a pig to get to apparently !

Main Thermostat will sort this.

Don't mess with Coolant sensors ETC.
Bit of an awkward change. Alternator needs to come off from memory.

Yeap.....your main stat needs changing.  :happy2:

It will take some time to fit due to its locations deep in the bowels.
