Hello and a quick question
« on: October 25, 2015, 07:03:35 am »
Morning all, and hello!

I have recently purchased a mk5 golf gti and really pleased with it, it is fitted with the low tyre pressure sensors but has had anniversary wheels fitted without the correct valves so the light is on all the time. Is there away of getting rid of the light as its flashing all the time without buying the correct valves.

Thanks in advance.

the mk5 golf works on the abs it does not use a valve for monitoring the tyre pressure

you should be able to hold down the button with the ignition on to reset the system

Right ok, apparently it was working on its original wheels and as soon as the anniversary wheels were fitted it stopped working. This was all before I owned the car, but was told by the old owner it needed new valves. I will try what you said and report back!!

fitting new wheels with different tyres could change the rolling radius so that would bring up the low pressure warning light  :happy2:

Wait a minute... didn't the mk5 come with an option for indirect (utilising ABS sensors) OR direct (using special valves) TPMS?

If your car has the 'standard' TPMS which uses the ABS sensors, just make sure all your pressures are correct, then press and hold the 'SET' button in front of the gear stick until the light goes off  :happy2:
