Still remuging about for clues :)

Looks like Rosstech specifically state in the special notes area that if a WSS (wheel speed sensor) is not working then the steering wheel stop adaptation wont work:
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_(1K)_Steering_Assist#Steering_Limit_Stop_Adaptation

Is there any way to tell whether its a bad sensor or the hub that needs doing before actually doing it?
Out of interest was the vehicle scanned before the ABS pump tear down if so was the wheel sensor faulty on that scan?
I test the ABS sensors with a multimeter and just compare the value to a working sensors on the ohms scale - this might help http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=129702.0
On price check with TPS - in our area there keen to match Euro CP.

Looking back through my scans, yes it was mate... makes me feel better that it wasn't false due to the pump being split.  I just didn't notice because the dash has been lit up for ages. :ashamed:

INteresting to hear TPS will try and price match, as I'd definitely prefer OEM on this type of part. :happy2:

You will be banging your head against the wall until you sort the reluctor/sensor problem, I have used rear bearings on ebay £30 for years with no problems, biggest ball ache is the bolts holding the brake caliper retaining bracket on, better done on a ramp using a long breaker bar to remove. Should find once this problem with the sensor is fixed, things will start working ok.

Sorry guys, should've mentioned that... Offside Rear wheel hub reluctor ring, then recalibration.  It would've all worked grand after doing the ABS pump if the Wheel Hub wasn't foobarred, as the Power Steering is linked heavily into the wheel speed, I thought it back here, but wasn't sure if it was the sensor or the hub.

After measuring the wheel speed from each side using VCDS measuring blocks... that Offside rear wasn't returning a value.  Cleared the fault, it didn't come back straight away... if the sensor was an Open Circuit then I would assume the sensor was at fault and return straight away.  It only returned when trying to read from the Hub reluctor ring whilst in motion, so I took this educated guess at it being the Hub at fault.
Replaced it + VCDS magic = Happy days. :happy2:
