Wait and see. Why speculate now when VW has to come up with a solution next week? :popcornsoda:

Be some fine to be able to bankrupt vw.
Look at their assets: lambo, audi, bugatti, ducati, skoda and seat. Could sell them off.

Sure people won't suddenly stop buying them off the back of this.

You would be surprised at how many people will avoid the whole VW group now. Especially the older middle class. My father in law who changes his car yearly has just wiped all VW groups cars off his list as he his disgusted by the whole affair.

To be honest, so am I. I have a brand new A6, my previous car was an A7, previous to that I had a mk6 golf, mk5 golf all bought brand new. I have spent a lot of money with a company who have lied to me. Oddly enough, when I got the A6, I knew something was up. They touted it to be mega efficient and to reach crazy MPG. Its no better than any car I have had previously.

I was speaking to a salesman today and they've been told don't take any of those Lemon vehicles in from the VAG range against Range Rovers at no cost! :rolleye:
I've seen in the news there looking at the sale of various marquees they own to keep the float fund needed for the business to remain trading - the fine talked about from the USA will wipe out their working capital.

We don't know the fines yet.

$18bn is the maximum fine in the US. Could be more including other countries, could be a lot less.

VW will survive. It survived denazification measures at the end of WW2, it survived through all the harder times in Europe and is one of the biggest motor groups in the world. For it to go bankrupt would take more than the $18,000,000,000 fine from the USA.

Scientist have pointed out how bad diesel is for the environment for years, but everyone was blinded because the oil companies were making a killing of the sale of diesel which originally was a by-product of oil production. Now that the profits of diesel have gone globally, it's been thrown to the dogs and pinned on the "evil car manufacturers".

I certainly will bet that once GM Motors or Ford cars are put under examination that the case against VW will lessen off as America try to cover up the fact they too have been cheating for years.

And as for the social boycotting of VAG cars... You drive in the city in your massive 4x4 but claim that you're boycotting VAG cars for the sake of the environment. Do me a favour and STFU.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

There's a lot of people that don't care about the whole thing and will continue to buy VW.

It's only a matter of time before the other manufacturers are caught out.

How can they blame the customers! I actually did buy my car because of better mpg and emissions. I got a TSI not a GTI. On purpose. And I am annoyed as I have been lied to. A lot of comments here saying who really cares. I really do. I have other cars for fun that are rubbish environmentally but I do a handful of miles a year. Literally a hundred or so. My main driver had to be clean and efficient.

This whole thing stinks and I also bet VW won't be alone sadly. Some of the figures recently have been so good it did seem odd.

Last thing...yes Hitler started VW but didn't the British turn it into a sustainable business? Just sayin' hipsters.

According to a survey by Sewells Research, almost half of UK corporate car buyers say they might refrain from buying VW cars in the future, despite the fact they might have opted for the brand frequently in the past
