Rear Brake caliper brake pipes (from flexi to piston)
« on: September 29, 2015, 09:01:13 pm »
Hi all,

I have a 1.6 Fsi Match. It's been sat for around a month as I haven't been able to drive due to inury  :ashamed: We took it for a drive a couple of weeks ago and realised one of the rear calipers was sticking. I've since purchased new discs, pads, calipers and flexis to renew the rear brakes - which I will fit this weekend.

Now to my question. The rear calipers have a small bit of brake pipe that connects the caliper to the flexi. They are about 3 inches long. These have corroded on both existing calipers so i'll need new ones when fitting the new calipers.  I spoke to my local dealer who said it was £45 for both sides :scared: He couldn't give me the pat numbers as per 'company policy'.

I've done some digging and I from what I can find the part numbers are: 1K0611763E (left) and 1K0611764L (right) but I can't find any website in the UK selling them.
Does anyone know of somewhere to pick these up for sensible money?

Or failing that, can someone point me in the right direction of what hardware (union joints? sizes?) I will need to make my own up. I have very little knowledge of making pipes, however I have someone helping me who has the gear to make them up.

Any help would be much appreciated  :happy2:

Well this isn't any help but thought I'd comment anyway

I recently changed my rear calipers and enquired as to new hardlines, they was as you mentions roughly £45, considering the similar s3 front hardline were less than half the price I was a bit shocked!! I was fortunate enough to reuse me existing in the end, but your not alone thinking there expensive.

Hopefully someone will be along with some useful info  :happy2:

My first thought is whilst they may look grubby if you clean them up and coat them with grease they will most likely be fit for purpose and offer many years trouble free service or
You could take the existing two pipes off carefully give them to an independent who'll have the necessary materials and tools to make you new ones at a fraction of that price.

Thanks both. In the end we made up some new lines. Brakes work a treat now.

Cheers
