engine removal help
« on: October 02, 2015, 01:26:15 pm »
Hi there, I am planning on selling the engine out of my 2005 dsg gti, engine code AXX, if there are any threads/how to's on removal and if i've missed them I do apologise.  If not i just need to know where the main engine mounts are to get it out in as a whole a piece as possible.  I've removed the intercooler, itg maxogen filter already so there is quite a bit of room for getting around it.  Also, is it possible to remove the gearbox with the engine? Or is it best to remove them separately?  Need some advice from someone in the know, thank you all in advance

Take the complete front end of the car... Front bumper, headlights, radiator pack.. Everything

It will will make the job a lot easier! I left my gearbox in as I didn't need to remove it. If you don't need to then just leave it there. It will stay in position if you leave both gearbox mounts in.

Engine mount is on the left side next to cambelt. Other than removing exhaust downpipe, a few pipes and wiring loom the engines can be pulled out pretty much complete
